چکیده

InterDendritic Solidification (IDS) is a thermodynamic–kinetic software combined with microstructure tool developed to simulate the nonequilibrium solidification (non-EQS) of steels. Herein, its main calculation module, (SOL), introduced, and some essential results that such as formation ferrite austenite in different types steels during their solidification, dissolution precipitates subsequent cooling heating processes, respectively, following are presented. The non-EQS compared equilibrium poor-kinetics demonstrate effect kinetics on using finite solute diffusion data. comparable modified Scheil simulation ignoring solid-state slowly moving metallic elements. A particular emphasis made demonstrating how use postprocessing treatment control residual amounts stainless extent precipitation steel. In this context, phenomena occurring behind discussed. Finally, validate simulations SOL calculations numerous measurements, liquidus solidus temperatures

Thermal Simulation of Solidification Process in Continuous Casting

In this study, a mathematical model is introduced to simulate the coupled heat transfer equation and Stefan condition occurring in moving boundary problems such as the solidification process in the continuous casting machines. In the continuous casting process, there exists a two-phase Stefan problem with moving boundary. The control-volume finite difference approach together with the boundary ...

Solidification and thermal performance analysis of the low carbon steel during the continuous casting process

The present paper evaluates the effect of the nozzle characteristics on the heat transfer and phase change of the low carbon steel during the continuous casting process. A three-dimensional energy equation and a solidification model are used to drive the governing equation of the phase change and temperature distribution. A linear relation is obtained to predict the temperature-dependent of the...

Solidification and Particle Entrapment during Continuous Casting of Steel

Avoiding particle entrapment into the solidifying shell of a steel continuous caster is important to improve the quality of the continuous cast product. Therefore, the fluid flow dynamics in the steel melt and mushy zone, heat transfer and solidification of the steel shell, as well as the motion and entrapment of inclusion particles during the casting process were investigated using computation...

Parallel Dynamic Solidification Model of Continuous Steel Casting on Gpu

Nowadays, dynamic solidification models of continuously cast steel are commonly used in steelworks over the world to control the casting process and to monitor the steel production. Moreover, these models of transient temperature field can also be utilized for optimization of continuous casting, its on-line regulation, or may help operators to solve non-standard or breakdown situations that can...

Three-dimensional Numerical Simulation of Metal Flow and Solidification in the Multi-cavity Casting Moulds of Automotive Components

The liquid metal flow and the solidification behaviours in a multi-cavity casting mould of two automotive cast parts were simulated in three dimensions. The commercial code, FLOW-3D® was used because it can track the front of the molten metal by a Volume of Fluid (VOF) method and allows complicated parts to be modeled by the Fractional Area/Volume Obstacle Representation (FAVOR) meth...
